Gluefast's Skid-lock Pallet Load Unitising System.

The "Skid-Lock ® Unitizing System" is a unique system designed to increase the stability of unitised pallet loads. This can result in the elimination or reduction in stretch wrap, strapping or corner boards used. The "Skid-Lock System" involves dispensing of Skid-Lock adhesive on the top surface of each layer of boxes/bags in the form of a "spray" or "bead" and then palletising the boxes/bags either in a "cross-stacked" or "column-stacked" pattern. Each layer of boxes/bags adheres to the layer above/below, forming a unit of the pallet load. If a pallet load is "column-stacked" a band of strapping, or pallet film will need to be applied horizontally to the top layers of boxes/bags.

SKID-LOCK ADHESIVE IS UNIQUE

It has high "shear strength" (side to side adhesion).
It has low "tensile strength" (up and down adhesion).
It allows clean release without damaging the top or bottom surfaces of the palletised boxes/bags.
It is water-based.
It is applied cold.
It is safe to use, containing no known hazardous materials, and conforms to USA F.D.A. regulation 175.105 for use in food packaging.
It does not adversely affect repulpability of cardboard/paper containers.

ADVANTAGES OF THE SKID-LOCK UNITIZING SYSTEM OVER STRETCHFILM, HOT MELT OR STRAPPING SYSTEMS.

1. The Skid-Lock application system is less expensive in terms of both application equipment and consumables.

2. Skid-Lock does not add to the solid waste that needs to be disposed of by the recipient of the unitised load.

3.Because Skid-Lock is applied cold, there is no danger of the operators being burnt.

4. If applied using an "automatic application station", Skid-Lock adhesive is applied "in-line" saving labour and the necessity for a designated area in the factory for a pallet load stabilizing system.

5. Boxes/Bags can be removed from the unitised pallet load without destroying the "integrity/stability" of the load.
